Analysis of Patient Treatment Pathways in Schizophrenia

Enrollment: ONGOING

Study Purpose – Optimizing Antipsychotic Use in Schizophrenia

Health Analytics is conducting a retrospective analysis of administrative claims parallel to a prospective provider survey to evaluate and elucidate the antipsychotic prescription pathways used in the treatment of schizophrenia. Health Analytics has developed a survey for providers to assess provider knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs regarding antipsychotic medication, as well as the underlying factors that affect health practitioners’ medication prescription patterns. The data from this survey will be combined with the treatment pathways and associated patient outcomes identified through claims analyses to develop a claims-based algorithm to promote effective antipsychotic patient treatment matching.

Study Design— Retrospective Claims Analysis and Provider Survey

Health Analytics is working with a number of providers who are providing treatment to patients who have been diagnosed with Schizophrenia.  Multiple data sources will be secured for the study such as single payer administrative claims, provider survey data, and other healthcare claims databases. The longitudinal study includes a survey that will be completed by providers. Each survey takes approximately 20 minutes and may be completed via phone, fax, or online. This survey will ask providers to provide their knowledge and beliefs towards their treatment choices for schizophrenia.

Financial compensation is available for all participating providers. All providers will be given an honorarium in the form of a check once the survey has been completed and received by Health Analytics.
